Estimates & Scheduling

How do I get an estimate for waterproofing or foundation repair?

Use the Get a Free Estimate button anywhere on the site or call (203) 617-8074. We'll talk through what you're seeing, ask a few questions about your property, and schedule a time to look at the issue in person before putting together a recommendation.

Do you charge for estimates?

We provide estimates so you can understand the scope and your options before deciding on any work. Reach out and we'll walk you through the process for your specific situation.

What areas do you serve?

We're based in Danbury, CT and work in Danbury, Newtown, Greenwich, Sherman, and Branford. If you're nearby and not sure whether you're in our area, just call — we'll let you know.

How quickly can you come out?

We're a locally operated company, so we're generally able to schedule promptly. When you contact us we'll give you a realistic idea of timing based on the current schedule and the nature of the issue.

Waterproofing

What's the difference between waterproofing and damp-proofing?

Waterproofing is designed to stop water under hydrostatic pressure — the kind of force that pushes groundwater through walls and floors. Damp-proofing resists moisture vapor but won't hold back standing water. If you have active seepage or a high water table, waterproofing is the appropriate approach.

Do I need exterior or interior waterproofing?

It depends on access and the source of the water. Exterior waterproofing stops water at the outside of the wall and is the most thorough fix when excavation is practical. Interior waterproofing manages water from inside when exterior excavation isn't feasible — under a finished space, a tight lot, or a deck. Many homes benefit from both.

Will waterproofing fix the musty smell in my basement?

A musty basement is usually a sign of excess moisture and uncontrolled humidity. Waterproofing and proper water management address the source of that moisture, which is typically the cause of the smell rather than a separate problem.

Foundation Repair

Are foundation cracks always serious?

Not every crack is structural, but every crack is worth looking at. Shrinkage cracks from curing are common and often cosmetic, while cracks from settlement or pressure can be structural. We identify what kind of crack it is and whether it needs repair before recommending anything.

Why do cracks keep coming back after patching?

A surface patch won't hold if the crack is still under pressure or still moving — from water, soil, or settlement. A lasting repair fills the crack through its full depth and addresses what's causing the movement. If the cause isn't dealt with, the crack will reopen.

What causes a foundation wall to bow inward?

Bowing is usually the result of hydrostatic pressure — saturated soil pushing against the wall — often made worse by freeze-thaw cycling. The repair has to both stabilize the wall and relieve the pressure behind it, or the movement will continue.

Drainage

What does a French drain actually do?

A French drain is a subsurface trench of stone and perforated pipe that captures water moving through the soil and redirects it away from the foundation or a low spot. It handles groundwater that grading and surface drains alone can't reach.

Why does water pool in my yard?

Pooling usually means water has nowhere to go — a low spot, compacted or clay-heavy soil, or a grade that directs runoff to one area. Yard drainage, grading correction, or a combination of both can give that water a path off the property.

How do I know if my sump pump needs replacing?

Common signs are a pump that runs constantly, a basin that overflows in heavy rain, or a unit that's nearing the end of its service life. If your basement relies on a sump and you're seeing any of these, it's worth having it checked before the next storm.

Process

What happens during excavation around my foundation?

We carefully excavate alongside the foundation down to the footing, protecting utilities and landscaping as we go, then apply waterproofing, install drainage, and backfill so the area is left neat and properly graded.

Will you protect my landscaping during the work?

Where excavation is involved we plan the dig around existing landscaping, hardscaping, and utilities. We work to leave the property as clean as we can and restore the area when the work is done.

How long does a typical project take?

Timelines depend on the scope, the condition of the foundation, the weather, and what we find once the work starts. We'll give you a realistic expectation for your specific project when we provide your estimate.
