About Our Grading & Drainage Correction Service

Grading and drainage correction is the ground-level fix for water problems. If the soil around your foundation slopes toward the house — even slightly — every rain sends runoff right at the foundation wall. Correcting the grade so the ground slopes away, combined with drainage where the grade alone can't do the job, is often the single most effective change you can make. We re-grade around the foundation, correct the slope, and add drainage where the lot shape demands it. Good grading is what keeps the rest of the waterproofing system from being overwhelmed.

Signs You May Need This

  • Soil that settles or slopes back toward the foundation
  • Water pooling against the house after rain
  • Downspouts dumping at the wall with no extension
  • A finished grade that's too high or too low against the foundation

What Causes It

  • Settled backfill that dropped below the away-from-house slope
  • Landscaping that traps water near the foundation
  • A lot that was graded toward the house to begin with
  • Erosion that reversed the slope over time

How We Approach It

1

Re-grading

We reshape the soil around the foundation to a slope that sheds water away from the wall — the first line of defense against seepage.

2

Downspout correction

Downspout extensions and tie-ins move roof water out past the foundation so it's not dumped at the wall.

3

Drainage integration

Where grading alone can't fix a low spot, we add surface or subsurface drainage tied to a clear outlet.

Things to Consider

Grading is foundational to everything else: the best waterproofing system still struggles if the ground keeps pushing water at the wall. We correct the slope, manage the runoff, and add drainage only where the lot actually needs it — not as a default.

Our Process

1

Evaluate slope

We check the grade around the foundation and where runoff goes.

2

Re-grade

The soil is re-sloped to shed water away from the wall.

3

Runoff control

Downspouts and surface drains are corrected or added.

4

Finish

The area is compacted, finished, and left clean.
